Finding Appropriate Homeschool Lesson Plans

Author: Ling Tong

Just like regular teachers, parents who home school their children have to prepare homeschool lesson plans. They need to have lessons ready in all subjects and if they have several children doing different grades, they may have a hard time being able to find the time to prepare all the different lessons for the next day. There are ways of getting around this that will make the job much easier.

All lesson plans have the same format. You must have an objective for your lesson, which is what you expect the children to know or be able to do at the end of the lesson. You should know what materials you are going to need to teach the lesson and have them ready. Prepare the format of the lesson so that you know how you are going to get the concept across to the students and then prepare the necessary worksheets or activities through which they will demonstrate that learning has taken place.

If you are using the same prescribed curriculum as the regular school, there are lesson plans provided in the teacher's manuals for these textbooks. All publishers of textbooks do have teacher editions that you can purchase. Then you have the worksheets that accompany the lessons, but you will need to have access to a photocopying machine so that you don't have to tear them out of the book.

Prior to the start of the school year, look through the curriculum outcomes for the subjects. If you have two or more children whom you will be homeschooling, it is important to know that in subjects such as science and math there is a spiral curriculum. This means that the children will be learning the same concepts in each grade, just in different degrees. You can choose to teach the children about the concept with different expectations for different ages and grade levels. This is quite easy to do in language Arts, where older children can accomplish different objectives by reading children's books and all children benefit from being read to, no matter what the level of reading in the book. Then all you have to do to prepare your lesson plans is to develop the concept in such a way that it meets the outcomes for the grade level and prepare different worksheets or exercises for the children based on their levels of ability.

The regular school system or education department of the government also provides parents with materials for homeschooling. Contact either the school in your area or the government to find lesson plans that you can use. Quite often the teachers are willing to share their lesson plans with you so that you can feel confident your children are receiving the same education they would receive in the school system. With the rise in the popularity of home schooling, there are many online forums where you can get help from other parents who have more experience than you do or can answer some of your questions.

The Internet is also an excellent resource for worksheets and lesson plans for homsechooling. If you do a search for "lesson plans for homeschooling", for example, you will find there aer many sites where youc an get printable worksheets to use.

What Is A Good Teacher Lesson Plan?

Author: Iprwire Staff Writer

Writing a new and innovative teacher lesson plan for every class can be tiring, and many teachers report that this is their least favorite part of their jobs. Unfortunately, most public schools require that teachers work from plans instead of just from the top of their head. The reason for this is consistent education and, while most teachers understand this, it doesn't make the lessons any easier to write. Luckily, there are many tools available that will help even the most frustrated educator create better lessons.

Many teachers will attempt to take courses on how to write a better teacher lesson plan. This is a great way to get some templates or forms to help with the process. If nothing else, many teachers find that they need to be better organized when writing their plans. Organization is key to making the lessons flow and be something that teachers would not only submit to their supervisors but would also be proud to teach to their students. Well written lessons don't have to be difficult to write, but it is time consuming and it is easy to see how many teachers are on the verge of pulling their hair out when they are done.

Other tools that teachers may use to aide them in writing a teacher lesson plan are planning books, templates, forms, and even computer programs. Programs that utilize computers are the latest craze, as many are very versatile. Many teachers like to buy programs that have all of the forms and such that they need so all they have to do is input information and teach. This is a very practical way to go about it, because the computer will help you stay organized and there is no dealing with confusing forms to make the process even more difficult.

In addition to these tools, many teachers find that if they supplement their teacher lesson plan with plans that have already been created for them, they feel a lot less stressed. There are tools available to teachers right now that can provide them with the templates they need in addition to the fully planned lessons that will give them a break when they need it. These allow teachers to turn on the computer and teach instead of refining their plans again and again and feeling the stress that goes along with that. This type of teaching is becoming very popular among educators of every level.

Learn From A Good Math Lesson Plan

Author: Iprwire Staff Writer

Writing a math lesson plan is very easy for some teachers, but a lot of teachers find it very difficult. The most passionate teachers will find that writing lessons for their mathematics classes is very difficult. The reason for this is that a passion for mathematics doesn't always translate into the ability to organize a cohesive educational lecture or class. Teachers that have difficulty putting their passion into a math lesson plan often need some tools to help them put it all down on paper or even a computer. This may take some practice, but every teacher can learn how to write great lessons that will take your passion and make it the passion of your students, as well.

There are many tools you can use as a math teacher to enrich your lessons and writing process. First, you can use a planner or planning book. These are usually a great way to write down a rough idea of what you plan to teach from day to day. If you are organized, you can write down the objective of all of the lessons and what you plan to tie into the lesson in the way of worksheets, crafts, textbook assignments, research papers, etc. Many teachers try this approach and have a lot of success, while others find that they cannot form organized lessons in the planners. Organization is key when using this type of tool, because you want your lessons to flow from one day to the next.

If you have found that writing a math lesson plan using all of the traditional tools doesn't work all that well for you, or you just want a break from writing your own lessons, you might want to look into some of the tools that are currently available to teachers. Much of the mathematics programs that are on the market have fully prepared lessons for teachers to use with their students. The lessons are written by teachers for teachers, so there is no need to worry about content or how complete the lessons may or may not be. You might not want to use the lessons for all of your teaching, but you might find that they are a good supplement to your own lessons.

These tools can be very helpful for teachers of all levels of mathematics who want to take a break from their math lesson plan writing, but still want an enriching educational experience for students. For one of the best options on the market, teachers may want to visit the http://www.lessonplans.com.au website for some of the best programs available. These programs are very easy to use and can help teachers introduce the use of computers in the mathematics classroom. The programs are very affordable, and if you are not satisfied with the product for any reason, you can return it for a full refund, no questions asked. Great teaching products are hard to come by, but this is definitely one of the best companies to work with on the internet and with a full refund possible, you simply cannot go wrong!

Struggling with Mathematics? – Try Math Lesson Plans

Author: Christina Lobo

Nowadays teachers provide online classrooms that offer lessons and classes on a wide variety of topics covering all subjects taught in a regular school. The educational field has changed a lot in the last few years. The advent of internet has made the process of learning and teaching so much easier. All our tasks have become simple and effortless. All thanks to advancements in technology. Students can get special classes sitting at home through the internet. They no longer have to waste time in travelling to far off places to get to school or study groups. The internet provides limitless information and knowledge.

Mathematics is probably the most widely studied subject on the planet. It is taught in all schools in every country in one way or another. It is one of the most important subjects that a student learns in his school life. For this reason, online lesson plans are very easily available for all levels of mathematics. It is a very popular subject and thus there are hundreds of websites dedicated to helping the students improve in its field. Leaving the comfort of one’s home is no longer a requirement for obtaining quality education. All that a student needs is provided on the net. The Math lesson plans are available in a variety of modules and forms. These math lesson plans are designed keeping in mind everyone’s needs. They the suit the requirements of those who want to learn the basics of the subject or those who want to study it for professional use. Students looking to just sharpen their skills will find a lot of material to fit their bill. Usually, paying a small fee is a prerequisite but the good part about these math lesson plans is that a person can enrol anytime and take the lesson whenever he feels like completely at his convenience. Mostly, these websites also provide a teacher who guides the students with their math lesson plans every step of the way. This teacher would even give them assignments and arrange tests and other such means to rate the progress of the student. But all this entirely depends on what kind of lesson plan the student and his parents have opted for. Other features commonly seen are virtual classrooms where the student can interact with the teacher face to face and sometimes even with other students and this greatly eases the process of learning mathematics. A variety of material and several online and printable books are provided to the students.

These math lesson plans and websites that offer them are also quite popular as they provide the teachers with a way to earn money and interact with other teachers. They can connect with people from all over the world and thus enhance their skills and be able to provide better quality education to students. The teachers can openly discuss problems, ask for solutions and exchange knowledge about different books and methods of teaching. A similar place for teachers to interact with each other is Teachers Pay Teachers which was founded by a public school teacher. It is an area where teachers come together and strive to be the best they can be. Teachers can easily publish their original materials such as lesson plans, presentations, projects, exams, tests and many other things. These teachers can sell their work at their own prices and TPT gets a small percentage of that sale. Joining is free and TPT only makes money when a product sells.

Due to such innovations in the field of teaching and learning, math has become one of the favourite subjects of students all over the world.

Elementary Math Success Using Base Ten Blocks

Author: Alisa Clark

I've been a teacher for over a decade. When I became a teacher I was eager to teach kids differently than I had been taught. So much of how I was taught as a child was motivated by results, scores and performance. If I did well on the standardized test that proved that I was learning. Filling in the right bubble proved that I understood the question and the answer. Sadly, this was far from the truth, because I missed out on understanding what happened in between the question and the answer. I couldn't tell my teacher why choice "D" was right. I needed teachers who could show me why my answer was correct. I needed teachers who knew about math manipulatives.

Elementary School math can be a challenge for students. This is especially true when kids are taught how to get the right answers to problems, but aren't taught why their answers are correct. That's why math manipulatives are a fantastic tool for teaching the basic mathematical operations in a way that makes sense to kids. Place value, number sense, addition, subtraction, multiplication and long division are just a few examples of mathematical concepts that can be better taught, and understood, using a hands-on approach.

Hands-on math tools are a "must have" for anyone who's trying to teach elementary school math. Without an understanding of the mathematical processes involved in problem solving the correct answers are meaningless. A teacher should try their best to help kids understand their answers. Math should make sense.

Some parents and educators don't know where to begin when it comes to teaching kids what to do with a math manipulative. Luckily, this is a hurdle that is easy to get over in today's information age. Activity books, guides, lesson plans and practical application for hands-on math are readily available. They help guide any teacher though many activities that can accompany great hands-on resources. All the work is already done for you. All you need to do is round up the materials, copy the lesson plans and worksheets and follow the instructions. You'll be amazed at how quickly kids begin to understand how to get the right answers. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to teach math better than you were likely taught.

The internet is another valuable resource when it comes to figuring out how to teach with math manipulatives. A simple internet search will uncover lesson plans and valuable suggestions that incorporate hands-on tools for teaching mathematics. You'll also discover a wide selection of products including Base Ten Blocks, math games, fraction circles, Cuisennaire Rods and much more. A simple search will open up all the possiblities you can explore when using these, and other, hands-on math resources.

When I was a child I was lucky if my text book included an illustration for the mathematical process being taught. Now, the materials available for understanding the mathematical processes are excellent and varied. We can teach so much more than our math teachers taught us when we use math manipulatives.

If you're trying to uncover the best way to teach elementary school math you want to invest in some good math manipulatives. This investment should include the best possible resources. My favorite hands-on resource for teaching elementary math is a set of Base Ten Blocks. So many math concepts can be taught efficiently and easily with the investment in this inexpensive, easy to use set of materials. You'll use them all year long and for many years to come. They'll make you a better teacher. They'll make learning easier and more meaningful for your students.

When learners have the chance to understand basic mathematic priciples they will experience greater success when it comes to computation and math reasoning. You'll get real results that reflect true understanding. Check out the ways you can teach math better using hands-on materials. Explore the possibilities with an eager mind that's ready to learn. It's an investment you won't regret.

Lesson Planning: How To Design An Effective Curriculum

Author: Vince Welsh

Lesson planning is an important component of education and the everyday function of a classroom. It is vital to the learning of your students. A strongly structured lesson plan can reach and engage the toughest students while challenging the most gifted. The lesson plan is the blueprint and sets up the foundation for educators to reach students with different learning styles.

Whether in a public or private school setting, more effective lesson planning can be achieved with practice. Strategic lesson planning can take a simple teacher's guide of content presentations and maximize learning for every student. The key to lesson planning lies in the combination of meta-analysis and current action research. If you use educational research while you are designing curriculums, you will produce more efficient and effective plans. A good lesson plan will address both today's high standards and the differentiated learning styles of the student.

To create a good lesson plan you must first identify and utilize the correct strategy for each lesson. Plan lessons that incorporate direct instruction to create questions designed to take students through the steps that lead to comprehension. It's also important to design indirect instruction to guide students to mastery by exploring the common attributes of concepts, terms, data and events. When you are designing curriculums it is important to make sure the program assists students in creating simple statements and questions that will enable them to preview, predict and identify relevant material while reading for meaning.

Another method used in education is pairing students to form learning partnerships that are mutually beneficial. It can be very effective for students to learn together in teams. Because the goal of strategic lesson planning is to raise achievement through structured learning processes, students can help each other by identifying key similarities and differences in concepts and tasks. Strategic lesson planning can be accomplished by presenting material in a way that calls for students to make informed decisions that can apply to many different content areas. The main way to reach students is to keep learning interesting.

Educators can optimize content mastery in the classroom through the use of games, tournaments and teams. There are other valuable ways to use different teaching styles in a lucrative way. Some key strategies for different content and skills include building reflective skills through note-taking, increase meaningful discussions, and engage multiple styles simultaneously.

Overall, it's important to remember that your lesson plan can result in two outcomes: it can make inherently interesting content less interesting, or it can make dull material appealing and interactive. The tools to change how your students view the material lie in the lesson planning. By incorporating interactive ways of learning, students will be more likely to get involved and therefore learn more efficiently. If you build and structure your plan in a way that takes the results of educational research and combine it with motivating strategies, you will have the ideal curriculum. Designing curriculums is an art form and a science. You need to use strategy, research, and creativity. A great deal of work and details go into the creation of a successful lesson plan, but the results are rewarding.

Lesson Plan: Beware the Blobfish

Author: Gregory Pavliv

Because of their amazingly low output of energy, there is little need for extra sustenance. They typically hover just above the sea floor moving incredibly slowly.  Thus, through evolution it has become the blob that you now see. When viewed underwater, this fish resembles the human face (although be it incredibly ugly.)

When taken out of the water to be studied or if caught by a fisherman, it will quickly dry up and lose its blob -like form. And while it is a fish found in the bottom of the ocean, the female Blobfish will actually sit on her fertilized eggs that she lays until they hatch.

Science teachers (and health teachers alike) can use this evolutionary anomaly to demonstrate the dangers of laziness. Now, if only scientists could prove that the Blobfish used to have human hands but then evolved them away since it just watched television all day...
